Youth Assembly 2016

While Youth Assembly 2016 has had to be cancelled due to low numbers, Mennonite Church Saskatchewan is forging ahead with alternate plans with a new lower costs of $400 to host youth for a canoe trip and alternative assembly experience – to which they are still inviting guests from across Canada. To the Youth and Sponsors of Mennonite Church Canada:
We are excited to invite you to #CovenantCrew 2.0! While it is disappointing that the Youth Assembly had to be cancelled, we still feel passionately that you, the youth of the Church, are really important. We want to welcome you to participate in the life of your Canada-wide church by joining us for a new MC Sask run Youth Assembly, July 6-10th.
We believe that it is super important that you have opportunities to meet new friends from our area churches, experience God, and learn more about what it means to be God’s Covenant people. We think the best way to do this is by heading North to Churchill River Canoe Outfitters for an unplugged worship experience. We will head out on to the water, dream about the future of the Church, pray, laugh and soak up the sunshine. Part of being Church is knowing our brothers and sisters in Christ, and this is a great way to do that!
We believe that the church is changing and it is important to celebrate the opportunities we have with change. You are part of a great group of youth that care about what happens in the church and we want to make sure that your voice is heard. By joining the adult activities on Saturday and Sunday, you will get a chance to participate in discussions. By being physically present, we show that we care about the decisions that are made. Gathering with people from different age groups is a good chance to build relationships with the broader Mennonite community so that we won’t get stuck in a youth bubble! There is also going to be a time for you to serve others in Saskatoon. Faith requires us to share the love of Christ, so get ready to roll up your sleeves to serve!
God can do great stuff with things our society tells us are insignificant. Think of the mustard seed: tiny at first but grows into a huge tree! God transforms something small and ordinary into something amazing. It is our hope and prayer that you would not feel discouraged by small numbers but instead have faith and hope that God is working in us and through us. We see your potential as the youth of Mennonite Church Canada and are so excited to spend a week of our summer with you!
